Wholesale Natural Yellow Beeswax
Beeswax is a natural wax derived from honeybees. Typically ten (10) pounds of honey yields one (1) pound of beeswax. When originally formed, wax in the honeycomb is nearly white, but yellows with the addition of natural oils introduced by pollen from flowers. Beeswax is collected directly from the honeycombs of a beehive and can be found in different forms. Do to its high melting point; beeswax’s already easy workability is enhanced when in granules/pearl form.
Bulk Beeswax Uses and Benefits
The use of beeswax may be as old as history itself. From the earliest known example of therapeutic dentistry, dating back over 6,000 years ago, to modern uses which include fine candle making, skin care, and providing a protective coating for fine cheeses. Research even suggests that cosmetic and medicinal uses of beeswax may be superior to petroleum-based products. (See below)
The History of Beeswax
The known history of mankind’s use of beeswax dates back to Neolithic Europe. In order to reduce pain and sensitivity in a cracked tooth, beeswax was used as a therapeutic dental filling. Beeswax was also ancient humans’ first plastic. Written historical evidence, of the use of beeswax, dates back to the ancient Egyptians who wrote of beautiful Cleopatra’s use of it in her cosmetics and bath soap. More recently, physicians also recommended it for various therapeutic properties and it was applied to treat a number of ailments. Beeswax was also an important part of composite balms used in dressings after surgery.
Benefits and Uses of Beeswax
Beeswax has been found naturally useful in medicine, cosmetics, food and even art. To those who appreciate a safer, more natural environment, it provides many different uses.
A healthy Environment
Beeswax candles are naturally scented with the aroma of honey. This is highly desirable for those who suffer with asthma or is allergic or sensitive to smells. Pure beeswax candles as emit little (if any) smoke when they burn – keeping your home cleaner and more comfortable. Besides the smoke, these candles burn with little or no wax drip making them last longer. Recent studies suggest that burning beeswax candles can actually purify the air by releasing negative ions removing impurities from the air we breathe.
Natural Skin Care
By itself, beeswax locks in moisture, fosters cells and protects skin. With its amazing ability to work with in concert with multiple ingredients, beeswax can be utilized to benefit and beautify the entire body. With anti-bacterial properties and vitamin A, it aids in natural healing and cell development without clogging pores. With its water repelling properties, beeswax sustains sunscreen action.
Research on Beeswax
Studies continually show that yellow and white beeswax offers no toxicological concerns, even when ingested (in small amounts). Many commercial beekeepers prefer to chew beeswax honeycombs to traditional chewing gum. Beeswax acts as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiallergenic and a germicidal antioxidant. A study by German scientists, “Efficacy of barrier creams in comparison to skin care products in dental laboratory technicians – a controlled trial,” (translation) from the Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft found that, “…The results demonstrate that the use of after work moisturizers is highly beneficial and under the chosen study conditions even superior to barrier creams applied at work. This approach is more practical for many professions and may effectively reduce the frequency of irritant contact dermatitis.”

Horrible smell. Company doesn’t stand behind products.
I sadly purchased 55 lbs of this beeswax on November 12. It smells terrible. It overpowered everything I put in my products. I had to used double to essential oil to cover the smell. After I received complaints, I decided to contact the company. I also see similar reviews. The company doesn’t stand behind their products. I have to pay to return and receive store credit. Business beware.

Best Wax I've Used
I'm so happy with this wax! I've been making candles for years. I started with soy wax but, found that it melted too easily in the sun and made pillar candles that were too soft (even with additives). I then switched to paraffin and liked it well enough so stayed with it for a long time. I had used a little natural beeswax from another source and thought it was pretty good but, as I color my candles, the natural beeswax beige wasn't a great idea. Besides, it was too expensive to experiment with so, I shelved the idea.
Last month, I was commisioned to make candles for an event. They wanted beeswax and colors, so I searched and found Bulk Apothecary. The prices for beeswax was so much less than elsewhere so, it fit the budget well. Plus, there was white beeswax! I quickly bought it and hoped it would do the trick as well as paraffin.
It surpassed the paraffin by a mile! So easy to work with! Shrinkage is so much less so repours only need happen once (when you add a little more melted wax to a hardened mold to fill in the holes where the wax shrank). It was easy to color, hardened beautifully, made demolding a dream, and made very strong candles.
As the candles I make are for spiritual purposes, the fact that they're natural beeswax is a big plus! I can't wait to finish my paraffin so I can work exclusively with this white beeswax. -
Stinks like smoke
I bought 4 lbs of the yellow pellets to make lip balm. I didn’t notice it until melted but it smells like cigarette smoke. Not sure what I am going to do with the remaining wax but I can’t put it into lip balm.
First time I have been unhappy with anything from here.

I love this beeswax, very easy to work with.
This bees wax is wonderful for making candles. The little pellets make it easy to weigh, melt and use.

Good, but can't do the smell
I ordered 16oz of the white beeswax and cannot stand the smell. The wax melts just fine and the small pieces are perfect, but holy cow the smell is not nice. I had to use so much essential oil in my lotion bars just to hide it. I do wanna say, everything else I've gotten from this company has been amazing! I just have no idea what I'm gonna do with all this wax!

Makes great encaustic medium for artists!
I teach classes and workshops in encaustics, as well as am a practicing encaustic artist. I've been making my own clear encaustic medium using the Bulk Apothecary white wax pellets along with Damar resin crystals. I've been thrilled with the results as well as the savings. I'm guessing my cost is less than half over the retail costs at the art supply stores! The quality and shipping have been excellent.

Genuine product, good value
Beware if you find a much lower price for beeswax pellets, many of those suppliers sell beeswax adulterated with paraffin. This is genuine beeswax. These are quite small which makes them even easier for measuring out by volume. I’ve found unbleached beeswax, whether in block or pellets, varies in aroma, some more sweet honey-like than others, along with a smoky scent. That’s how the batch is I received. This can result from the hives being heavily smoked by the keepers. But for most applications this doesn’t present an issue in the final product.

High quality and easy to use
I used this for lotion bars (I made 150 of them) and am very pleased. Will buy again.

Clean, Smooth texture, Awesome quality!
I purchased this to add to my homemade body butter for my eczema & pregnant belly stretch marks prevention (under the advice of my doctor, make sure this product is right for you) and it is AMAZING!! Seriously the quality is great, my very sensitive skin did not react and my skin has welcomed this alternative! Packaging was a large box with popcorn styrofoam filling, seemed too much for the beeswax bag but its the only safe way to transport it. Received it in a timely manner and LOVE it!
