Uses for Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus essential oil is harvested from the leaf of the eucalyptus plant and is found all over the world. While its benefits have been known for hundreds of years, it wasn’t until recently that it began to be used commercially. It is a pale, yellow liquid. It can be found in many hygiene, soaps and products, and it offers some very specific benefits.

A more detailed look at the Benefits of Eucalyptus Oil

For a Pleasing Fragrance:

Eucalyptus oil has an extremely strong scent which many find appealing. This means that it can be added to perfumes and other products to add a pleasing aroma. For some, this fragrance also has some very soothing properties that help them relax.

This oil can be successfully blended best with helichrysum oil, lavender, tea tree, rosemary, lemongrass, pine, lemon, thyme, cedarwood, peppermint, benzoin, black pepper, ginger, patchouli, juniper, lime and bergamot.

Where to buy Eucalyptus Oil:

We have been told by many customers that we have the best price on wholesale eucalyptus oil. However, there are many places online that carry it. We do strongly recommend though that you find a good supplier and stick with them. There are many unscrupulous suppliers of wholesale essential oils that are selling inferior products. If you have any doubt, simply ask the supplier for a C of A (Certificate of Analysis) for the oil in question.

History:

Also known as ‘Eucalyptus globulus’, but variations include: eucalyptus radiate, eucalyptus citriodora and eucalyptus dives. The original eucalyptus tree was found in Australia and belonged to the Myrtacae family. The trees grow up to 380 feet tall in damp areas, typically in hillsides or valleys with deep soil.

Disclaimer:

The strong aroma and menthol content should be avoided during pregnancy. This oil should also NOT be taken orally as it can be toxic.

    No more mosquito bites!

Posted by Karen Maddox on 5th Sep 2016

I ordered the lemon eucalyptus oil because I'd read you can make a spray with witch hazel, vanilla and the oil. My husband is a mosquito magnet. He can be outside for 5 minutes and get three bites. He's used it twice now and has not been bitten! He said he saw a mosquito circle his arm, but it flew away. What a relief!

overall great oil, but doesn't hold in candles

Posted by Stephanie on 25th Aug 2016

I purchased the Globulus variety for the first time probably about a year ago and have been using it ever since in my cold process soaps. It holds quite well through the saponification process and smells great. The problem arose when I tried to use it to scent my soy candles. No matter what I tried differently, this Eucalyptus oil just would not hold. I'd make a batch of Eucalyptus candles and I'd go to sniff them two hours later and it was like I didn't put any scent in them at all. I have read that some essential oils are not suited for certain processes like soap or candle-making. I can only guess that is the problem here. Ever since I've been using peppermint essential oil as sort of a replacement to get a similar minty scent and it holds great.
