Once natural luffa gourds have matured they are hand-picked and naturally dehydrated for almost 9 months. The inside of the luffa gourd is then processed and cleaned to be sold to the cosmetic industry. These pieces are cut down to be around 5" which is the perfect size for suspending 1 piece in a bar of soap.

The loofah was very soft and easy to cut. I used in a mold and it great. No scratchy, roughness like I have heard from other folks that have used soap with loofah.

Excellent
This is perfect for what I need. I slice it up and put it in my cucumber mint soap, using the cucumber mint fragrance oil from Bulk Apothecary. It's one of my favorite soaps, as it exfoliates as you wash, thereby allowing the oils in the soap to nourish the skin.

5 Inch piece not pieces
My first time buying this and am really excited to try it in my soaps.Looks and feels great, priced reasonably, packaged well and shipped quick. However the description should say 5 inch piece not pieces as it implies there's more than one. For what I paid, I figured it was just one but just so you know what to expect.

Made in soap bar
I just made a loofah soap bar with the loofah and the cucumber mint fragrance oil! I added crushed mint for exfoliation and the bars are beautiful!
